Bemidji's Concrete Floor Coating Specialists
Not a coating crew with a sprayer and a Saturday afternoon. A concrete specialist with construction roots, slab system knowledge, and the substrate discipline to apply a floor coating in Bemidji that actually holds through what this climate puts on it every single year.
Why Choose Technical Construction Solutions for Concrete Floor Coatings in Bemidji, MN?
Homeowners and commercial property owners across Bemidji, from residential garages off Birchmont Drive to shops near the Paul Bunyan Drive commercial strip, frequently share the same frustration: their new floor coatings fail almost immediately. The primary reason for these rapid failures is nearly always improper slab preparation.
For example, a south Bemidji workshop floor experienced massive epoxy failure by its first February. The previous crew had never ground the concrete to the correct surface profile, leaving a smooth trowel finish that closed the surface pores. Combined with untreated moisture vapor rising from below, the epoxy had nothing to bond to and lifted off in sheets.
By properly grinding the slab to a mechanical profile, mitigating the moisture, and applying a system engineered for harsh Beltrami County winters, we delivered a durable surface that actually lasts.
Lasting floor coatings require a crew that understands concrete substrates, not just the chemical products. Founded by Freddy Lewis and backed by 15 years of heavy construction experience, and functioning as an established insulation contractor in Bemidji, MN and concrete specialist, Technical Construction Solutions ensures every slab is correctly prepared before any product is applied.
If your Bemidji floor is peeling, staining, or needs to be coated correctly from day one, contact Technical Construction Solutions for a free estimate.

Epoxy Floor Coatings
For garages across Bemidji's residential neighborhoods, workshops and commercial facilities along the Paul Bunyan Drive and US-2 corridors, and warehouse buildings throughout Beltrami County, epoxy is the most widely applied floor coating system for clear practical reasons. Applied correctly over a properly prepared slab, epoxy produces a hard, chemical-resistant surface that handles vehicle loads, heavy foot traffic, spills, and the road salt that a Bemidji winter tracks in.
What causes most epoxy failures in Bemidji is not the product. It is the surface the product was applied to. Concrete holds dust, residual sealers, existing contaminants, and moisture vapor that break the adhesion bond before the coating fully performs under load. Skipping or rushing the grinding and surface profiling step means the epoxy is bonding to contamination, not to the concrete itself.
This crew removes that variable from every project. The slab gets ground, profiled, and cleared of moisture vapor issues before any coating product is mixed or opened. For commercial and industrial clients managing high-traffic floors in the Bemidji area, that preparation discipline is what determines how long the investment holds before the next maintenance cycle is needed.
Polished Concrete
Polished concrete takes a different approach by refining the slab itself into a dense, low-maintenance, high-durability surface rather than applying a coating layer over it. For commercial lobbies in the downtown Bemidji area, retail spaces along the Paul Bunyan Drive corridor, and residential interiors in newer Bemidji builds, polished concrete resists staining, holds up under continuous traffic, and never peels, chips, or delaminates.
The process uses progressively finer diamond tooling to grind and refine the concrete surface, with densifier applied at the correct stage to harden the concrete from within rather than sealing it from above. The finished surface is sealed to reduce porosity and improve long-term stain resistance across years of use.
A crew that understands concrete at a structural level, how it cures, how it responds to grinding tooling, and how densifiers penetrate different aggregate structures, produces a consistently better result than a crew treating the slab as a blank canvas with no material properties of its own. For Bemidji property owners who want a floor that holds its appearance over years of use with minimal ongoing maintenance, polished concrete is the right system.
Why What Is Happening Below the Coating Determines Whether It Holds
Most floor coating contractors lead with the product: the brand name, the formula, the color options, and the finish sheen. The crews that produce coatings that hold over time lead with the slab, because that is where failures begin.
TCS's broader work in concrete lifting, void filling, and slab stabilization means this crew reads a concrete floor differently than a coating-only contractor. Moisture vapor emission rates, surface profile depth, existing damage patterns, slab history, and subbase conditions all affect how a coating performs over time, and all of those factors get assessed before any product is specified or applied.
"A general contractor TCS worked alongside on a commercial project in the Bemidji area said afterward that TCS was the first flooring crew he had brought in who asked about the slab's pour date and drainage history before asking about the product specification."
That is not a special approach here. It is just how concrete work gets done properly when the crew doing it understands what is happening at and below the surface level.
For Bemidji homeowners and commercial clients, that broader slab knowledge means the coating recommendation reflects what the floor actually needs, not what is fastest to apply and invoice.
Why Bemidji Homeowners and Contractors Trust Technical Construction Solutions
Highway Construction Roots. Concrete Knowledge That Goes Deeper.
This company was founded by someone who spent 15 years on construction sites before TCS existed. That background means the team understands concrete behavior, moisture movement, surface profile, slab curing characteristics, and substrate variance at a structural level.
Slab Knowledge, Not Just Product Knowledge.
TCS also performs concrete lifting, void filling, and slab stabilization. That broader experience directly improves floor coating decisions on every project. A crew that also works with concrete structurally understands what is happening underneath the slab.
Industrial Equipment. No Rushed Prep. No Cut Corners.
When a coating crew shows up underequipped, preparation time is shortened to stay on schedule. Multiple specialized rigs and large-scale grinding equipment mean larger Bemidji projects receive the same preparation discipline as smaller residential ones.
Built for Beltrami County Winters.
Every coating system and preparation standard TCS applies in Bemidji accounts for freeze-thaw performance, moisture vapor conditions, and road salt exposure. Every product and process decision here accounts for the extreme climate specifically.
Fair Pricing. No Shortcuts.
Every estimate reflects what the project actually requires: proper surface preparation, the right coating system for that substrate and application, and no skipping prep steps to protect margins on a project where preparation determines everything.
On Time. On Budget. Every Time.
Projects finish on the schedule agreed to and within the budget outlined at the start, so facility operations stay intact, and Bemidji homeowners are not waiting on a crew that overcommitted elsewhere.

Thank you.Posted on Google Bob WinsorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If Google allowed 10 stars I'd give them to TCS Insulation & Coatings! This is simply the best, and only, company you should consider for your spray foam insulation needs. I had my steel barn spray foamed by a different company. I was concerned about the low quality of that job. I have a wifi thermometer in the building and can watch the temperature closely. The temperature inside the building fluctuated almost exactly at the same time as the outside temperature. Clearly the foam was NOT insulating well. I contacted TCS and they came to inspect. They pointed out all of the many many problems with the foam. It was determined that ALL of that existing foam needed removal. The crew from TCS did an amazing job! This building is 40'x50' with 19' high sidewalls. A HUGE job! They worked so hard for many days. They then primed all of the now bare steel, and applied the new foam insulation. Now the temperature stays constant inside when the outside temp goes up and down. It's a huge difference! The workers were great to have around for over 2 weeks. Really nice and friendly. They feel like family now. I'm sure their arms and shoulders are still painful from this job. The building inspector was impressed with their work. The first picture shows only a tiny bit of the bad foam. This shows that the first company did not mix the foam correctly. That was only part of their problem.Posted on Google Samantha JonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Spray foam insulation is an exceptional company.
