Duluth's Spray Foam Insulation Specialists
Foam expertise has been built into the company from the first day it opened. Not a insulation contractor who added spray foam to a service list. A foam specialist with dedicated rigs, deep product knowledge, and the construction background to handle every application that Duluth's climate creates.
Why Choose TCS
Why Choose Technical Construction Solutions for Spray Foam Insulation in Duluth, MN?
Homeowners and contractors across Duluth, from Hillside homes battling constant drafts to West End commercial builds, often share a common frustration: standard insulation just doesn't perform as expected.
For example, a seasonal cabin off Highway 61 on the North Shore suffered from freezing pipes and high propane bills because previous fiberglass batts in the crawl space absorbed Lake Superior humidity, destroying their R-value. The core issue wasn't just a lack of insulation; it was that the crawl space walls and rim joist were left completely exposed to the outside air.
By removing the compromised batts and applying closed-cell spray foam directly to the crawl space walls and rim joist, the actual problem was solved. This stopped the freezing pipes and cut propane use by a third.
This whole-building approach is the foundation of Technical Construction Solutions LLC. Founded by Freddy Lewis and backed by 15 years of heavy construction experience, the company was built specifically around spray foam technology rather than adding it as an afterthought.
Duluth winters leave no room for partial solutions. Whether you are dealing with heat loss in an older home, updating a North Shore cabin, or sealing a new commercial envelope correctly from the start, contact Technical Construction Solutions LLC for a free estimate.
Expert Spray Foam Insulation Services in Duluth, MN
Residential Spray Foam Insulation
For homeowners across Duluth's established neighborhoods, from the older housing stock in Lincoln Park and the East End to the newer residential builds going up in Hermantown and Proctor, closed-cell spray foam is the most effective system available for stopping heat loss and blocking the moisture that Lake Superior's climate pushes into building assemblies year-round.
Fiberglass bats compress, shift, and absorb moisture over time. In Duluth's climate, where humidity off the lake creates a sustained moisture load that landlocked markets don't deal with, those failure modes accelerate. Spray foam expands on contact with the substrate, bonds into every gap, crack, and irregular void in the building envelope, and cures into a rigid surface that doesn't settle, sag, or absorb what the climate throws at it.
For rim joists in century-old Duluth homes that were never properly air-sealed, for attic knee walls in the Congdon area where conditioned and unconditioned space meet, and for crawl spaces in the hillside neighborhoods where ground moisture adds to the lake humidity load, spray foam addresses the air and moisture problem at the same time. You don't fix one and leave the other open.
Commercial Spray Foam Insulation
Large commercial and industrial projects in Duluth require more than good product. They require the equipment capacity to deliver consistent output across a large surface area, the crew readiness to stay on a general contractor's schedule, and the operational discipline to finish without supply interruptions or rescheduling.
TCS runs multiple dedicated spray foam rigs and operates a 44-foot commercial trailer, the "Big Rig" setup, built to transport foam materials, scissor lifts, and application equipment to a project site in a single mobilization. For the warehouse and industrial buildings along the West Duluth corridor, for large commercial builds near the Miller Trunk highway, and for the significant commercial development happening across Hermantown, that single-trip readiness means the foam crew arrives staged and moves straight into continuous application.
A project manager on a large industrial build in the Duluth area said afterward that the insulation phase was the only trade on that job that didn't require a schedule adjustment. The crew showed up with everything needed, worked through the full scope, and handed off a completed envelope on the date that had been committed to before mobilization started.
Blown-In Insulation
Attic depth correction and existing wall cavities in Duluth's older housing stock, where access is limited.
Batt Insulation
Open wall framing in new construction and renovation projects across Hermantown and Proctor.
Pole Barn Insulation
Condensation control and thermal performance for shops, agricultural buildings, and storage structures in St. Louis County.
Crawl Space Insulation
Moisture management and floor comfort for Duluth's hillside homes and North Shore cabin properties.
Under-Slab Insulation
Thermal break solutions for radiant floor systems, heated garages, and commercial foundations in new construction.
Commercial Spray Foam
Large-scale applications handled by the 44-foot Big Rig trailer across Duluth and the greater regional market.
Why It Matters for Your Project
A single-rig insulation operation has to schedule around its own capacity. When that rig is committed elsewhere, your project waits. When that rig hits a supply constraint mid-job, your project stalls. For a homeowner, that means delays. For a commercial client with trades sequenced behind the insulation phase, it means real cost.
This operation runs multiple dedicated spray foam rigs alongside the 44-foot commercial trailer. Material, equipment, and crew travel together. When the rig arrives on a Duluth project, it arrives with everything the job requires.
"A general contractor managing a large commercial envelope project in the Duluth area told us afterward that we were the only specialty crew on that job who didn't need a check-in call about schedule status, because the schedule we committed to was the schedule we kept."
Why Duluth Contractors and Homeowners Trust Technical Construction Solutions
15+ Years of Hands-On Construction Experience.
This company is led by someone who spent over fifteen years working in construction in the field before TCS existed. That time wasn't spent managing projects from an office. It was spent on job sites understanding how buildings perform, how moisture moves through assemblies, and what actually separates a building that performs well in a northern winter from one that doesn't.
Family-Built. Field-Proven.
Construction has been part of this company's foundation from the beginning. Not as a talking point, but as the practical, worksite-level knowledge that shapes how every project gets assessed and executed. The judgment that comes from years of real construction work shows up in how problems get diagnosed before a rig is ever unloaded.
Specialized, Not Generalized.
Spray foam and building performance systems are the focus, not one service among many on a general contractor's list. That specialization means the crew stays technically sharp, the equipment stays current and properly maintained, and the product knowledge reflects years of foam-specific field experience.
Invested in the Duluth Community.
This crew works in Duluth, on the North Shore, and across St. Louis County because this is the market we serve, not a territory we pass through. The homeowners in the Hillside neighborhoods and commercial clients along the West End corridor are the clients whose reputation our company is built on.
Fair Pricing. No Shortcuts.
Every estimate reflects what the building actually requires: the right system for each application, the right foam thickness for that location's thermal and moisture exposure, and installation standards that match the product specification. No padding the scope, no cutting prep steps.
On Time. On Budget. Every Time.
Project management is part of the job, not an afterthought. Projects here finish on the schedule they were committed to and within the budget that was quoted. For homeowners planning work around a contractor's arrival, that reliability is something you can count on.

Thank you.Posted on Google Bob WinsorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If Google allowed 10 stars I'd give them to TCS Insulation & Coatings! This is simply the best, and only, company you should consider for your spray foam insulation needs. I had my steel barn spray foamed by a different company. I was concerned about the low quality of that job. I have a wifi thermometer in the building and can watch the temperature closely. The temperature inside the building fluctuated almost exactly at the same time as the outside temperature. Clearly the foam was NOT insulating well. I contacted TCS and they came to inspect. They pointed out all of the many many problems with the foam. It was determined that ALL of that existing foam needed removal. The crew from TCS did an amazing job! This building is 40'x50' with 19' high sidewalls. A HUGE job! They worked so hard for many days. They then primed all of the now bare steel, and applied the new foam insulation. Now the temperature stays constant inside when the outside temp goes up and down. It's a huge difference! The workers were great to have around for over 2 weeks. Really nice and friendly. They feel like family now. I'm sure their arms and shoulders are still painful from this job. The building inspector was impressed with their work. The first picture shows only a tiny bit of the bad foam. This shows that the first company did not mix the foam correctly. That was only part of their problem.Posted on Google Samantha JonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Spray foam insulation is an exceptional company.
